31st
Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday,
31st October 2010
They all
complained when they saw what was happening. “He
(Jesus) has gone to stay at a sinner’s house,”
they said. One of the lovely features of the Gospels
is that Jesus had no problem with what we would
call sinners. He didn’t condone what they
did but he had great compassion for them. The
other side of that feature was that he had a lot
of difficulty with good people. And he still has!
He found it almost impossible to break through
to them with the Good News of God’s unconditional
love for every person because, if they were God,
they would not be like that. So, as we struggle
to live out our faith through the various relationships
of our lives we need to be ready for failure and
be gentle with ourselves. But we also need to
be very gentle with one another and become a source
of encouragement for one another rather than putting
one another down through criticism.

Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R

Welcome/Baptism:
We welcome
into the Community of Faith-- Lacy Ann Sabrina
Maughan-- College Park Lane-- Enniskillen --who
was baptised in the Church of the Immaculate Conception
on Sunday 24th October 2010. May her home
be one of prayer, love, friendship and joy?
Confession:
For 30 minutes before Mass on Saturday
nights.

Deceased
Relatives and Friends:
During
November we remember our deceased relatives and
friends. We celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation,
and we pray for them. We had visiting priests
here on Sunday Night last. Unfortunately few Adults
attended, and few children attended. The poor
turn--out is embarrassing, disheartening, and
discouraging. It is difficult to know how we can
help the parish become renewed in Jesus. We certainly
need to pray that our people may listen to the
call of God, and respond to it. Where have all
our children gone? Where have all our Adults gone?
It is always important to remember that the centre
of our Faith is Jesus. No matter what has happened
we can never turn away from Jesus who suffered,
died, and rose from the dead for us. We need him
now more than ever. We need to come back to the
merciful love of God who hungers and awaits us
with total love and compassion. On Good Friday
evening as he hangs on the Cross we hear those
lamentations of Jesus echoing in our hearts—“What
have I done to you? How have I offended you? Come
and answer me.” As we pray for our dead
we should listen to them also. What have they
to say to us? Let us listen now.
Prayers
and Responses at Mass:
Make sure
that your children know their prayers and the
responses to Mass. Bring your children to Mass.
Jesus says: “When the Son of Man returns
will he find any faith among us?.” It is
up to us to make sure that he does find that Faith.

Norms for Indulgences at the Commemoration
of all Souls:
We are
to go to Confession, Pray for the Dead, Receive
Holy Communion, and Pray for the Popes Intention.—from
12 noon 1st November until midnight on the 2nd
November-- One plenary Indulgence by visiting
a church or oratory, and there reciting the apostles
Creed, and one Our father.
From the
1st to the 8th November by visiting a graveyard
and fulfilling the above conditions—One
Plenary Indulgence. The custom of visiting the
graveyard in our Parish is very good. People should
be very happy about their respect and care for
their deceased.
